Learning to Fly

Our wonderful friends, Tom and Michelle, insipred Nick and me with their recent purchases of remoted controlled airplanes. After a short visit to their house last Saturday night to see the aircraft in action, we knew we had to have our own. Sunday, first stop, Toys R Us. Nick settled on a red old fashion-looking model, while I chose a blue jet with skull stickers. To liven everything up a bit, I picked up some pirate and letter stickers to truly make them our own. Mine got stuck on the roof and it's nose busted the first night we had it. Nick, being the inventor that he is, outfitted his plane with homemade landing gear! Never in my life would I have thought to take poker chips and a wire hanger to create fully functional wheels. In the pictures you can see Nick's plane before the landing gear, and then with it. I can say as a witness that the wheels worked so well, he could drive the plane along the ground like a car. We got adventerous and decided we would stand upstairs and use the hallway as a runway, then when the plane hit the top of the steps, it would take off like a real plane. Right? Wrong. Nick lost his landing gear.
